With a private guide in Machu Picchu, you can customise your itinerary and spend as much time as you want exploring Machu Picchu with your guide. Your guide will provide insightful commentary and ensure you get the most out of your visit.

During the tour you will have the opportunity to explore the ancient citadel of Machu Picchu and learn about the history and culture of the Inca people. You can also take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys from various viewpoints throughout the site.

After visiting Machu Picchu, you will return to Cusco on the Observatory Train. This train has panoramic windows, an open-air observatory car and snacks, making it a truly unforgettable journey.

  • Safety Briefing: The day before your Tour, around 7:00 p.m., your guide will give you a briefing to get you ready. Just make sure to tell us the name of your hotel in Cusco.
  • Hotel Pickup: We will collect you from your hotel between 4:00 a.m. from the hotel or Sacred valley.
  • Guided Tour: A professional guide will join you throughout your visit to Machu Picchu, offering expert insights and fascinating information to enrich your experience.
  • Train: Your round-trip train tickets to Aguas Calientes, the town closest to Machu Picchu, are included. You can choose between Vistadome (Peru Rail) and 360° (Inca Rail).
  • Bus Tickets: You’ll enjoy a 30-minute bus ride from Aguas Calientes up to Machu Picchu’s entrance. After your visit, the bus will take you back down, giving you time to relax and soak in all the amazing memories (and photos) you just made.
  • Entrance Ticket: Your entry to Machu Picchu is usually set for 9:00 or 10:00 AM for Circuit 01, 02, or 03. You’ll then enjoy a 2.5-hour guided tour exploring all the wonders of the site. Don’t worry—we take care of securing your tickets, depending on availability.
  • Transfer from your hotel to the train station and return .
  • Private Transportation: You’ll have round-trip van transport between Ollantaytambo and Cusco. The trip usually starts with a hotel pickup and takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes. After your journey, you can be dropped off at your hotel, the main square in Cusco, or in the Sacred Valley just let us know what works best for you.
  • Lunch at Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge Hotel or Full house, chullos restaurant

  • Meals Not Mentioned : It’s a good idea to bring snacks like fruit or sandwiches for breakfast on the way. You can also buy coffee and snacks at the train station before your trip. After visiting Machu Picchu, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy lunch in Aguas Calientes, where there are lots of restaurants to suit every taste and budget.
  • Tips for Guides and Staff: Tips aren’t included in the tour price, but they’re a nice way to show appreciation if you feel the service was great. It’s totally optional, but always appreciated.
  • Additional Expenses: Extras like souvenirs, optional activities, or any personal costs during the tour aren’t included. It’s smart to budget a little extra based on what you’d like to do.
  • Alcoholic Beverages: If your meals are included, alcoholic drinks usually aren’t. You’ll need to buy those separately.

Recommended to carry

  • Original Passport: You need to carry your original passport—copies won’t be accepted. Make sure it’s valid for at least six months and has at least two blank pages for your entry and exit stamps.
  • Student ID: If you booked your Machu Picchu tour as a student, you’ll need to bring your student card. It must be issued by your university (for travelers up to 25 years old) and include university details, your photo, personal info, and be valid through December 31 of the travel year.
  • Good daypack: Choose a comfortable, lightweight, and compact backpack to carry all your belongings easily throughout the day.
  • Tickets: Make sure you have all your tickets—train, entrance, and more. Print them out or have them downloaded on your phone so you can access them easily.
  • Warm Clothing: Because temperatures can change a lot from day to night, be sure to bring layers like fleeces, long sleeves, a down jacket, and a waterproof jacket to stay comfortable during your tour.
  • Personal Medication: Don’t forget to bring your own medicine and a basic first aid kit for the trip.
  • Hats and sunglasses: The sun is intense at high altitude and you should protect your eyes from the glare. Wear one that offers UV protection and is comfortable.
