The Rainbow Mountain on ATV tour begins at 3:00 a.m. with pickup from your hotel in Cusco. Then you’ll travel to Cusipata for a buffet breakfast and then continue to the ATV tour’s starting point.

After a brief orientation, you’ll depart for the outskirts of Vinicunca. From there, you’ll walk for about 10 minutes to the viewpoint, which is 5,036 meters above sea level, where you can enjoy the scenery.

Itinerary

Day 1Cusco – Cusipata – Rainbow Mountain – Cusco

We’ll pick you up from your Cusco hotel at around 3:00 a.m. Afterward, you’ll travel by van for two hours to the village of Cusipata, where you’ll enjoy a buffet breakfast featuring local ingredients.

Then, continue on to the ATV tour starting point. Once you arrive, the tour guide will provide safety instructions that you must follow before driving the ATV toward the mountain.

Once you reach the final point of the ATV tour, you’ll take a 10-minute hike to the Rainbow Mountain viewpoint of Vinicunca, located at 5,036 meters above sea level, a stunning gem discovered by nature itself.

Once at the top, You’ll have plenty of time to explore and enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding valleys, mountains, and the highest glacial mountain in Cusco – Ausangate – whose summit reaches an altitude of 6,384 m / 20,944 ft, making it one of the highest mountains in Peru.

After taking photos, the guide will share interesting information about this fascinating place, including the origins of its colors and details about Incan history.

Then, you’ll return to the ATVs and drive back to the van, continuing onward to Cusipata, where you’ll enjoy a delicious buffet lunch.

Finally, you’ll return to Cusco, arriving at the Plaza de Armas around 4:00 p.m.

Embarking on the Rainbow Mountain Adventure was an exhilarating journey that left us in awe of the natural wonders of Peru. Our day began bright and early with a prompt pickup from our hostel in Cusco, setting the tone for an adventure-packed day ahead.

As we traveled through the picturesque landscapes of the Cusco region, our anticipation grew, and upon reaching Cusipata, we enjoyed a hearty breakfast to fuel our adventure. The journey continued to the starting point of the hike at Pampa Chiri – Pitumarca, where our knowledgeable guide briefed us on the trail and the surrounding mountains.
