Your Quelccaya Glacier adventure begins long before sunrise. At 3:00 a.m., you’ll leave Cusco behind and set off on a scenic 5-hour journey through the spectacular Peruvian Andes. As the first light touches the mountains, you’ll pass traditional Andean communities, dramatic valleys, and remote high – altitude landscapes on your way to the village of Phinaya, the gateway to your glacier adventure.

Once you arrive in Phinaya, you’ll sit down for a traditional Andean breakfast, giving you the energy you need for the adventure ahead. From there, you’ll continue by vehicle toward the Quelccaya–Suyuparina Glacier, one of the most impressive tropical glaciers in the Peruvian Andes.

From the trailhead, you’ll begin a gentle 20–30 minute hike to a scenic viewpoint overlooking the glacier. As you walk, you’ll immerse yourself in a spectacular high-Andean landscape, passing turquoise lagoons, mountain streams, wild vicuñas, and snow-capped peaks of the Vilcanota Mountain Range.
