  • Chivay- Calera hot springs/thermal baths: If you want to relax at the Calera thermal baths, it costs 15 soles per person. You can pay this fee when you arrive.
  • Additional expenses: Personal expenses, such as souvenirs, additional activities, or other incidentals that you may incur during the tour are not included in the package. You should set aside funds to cover these additional expenses according to your personal preferences.

What to Bring

  • Original passport: you can't use a copy of your passport; you need to make sure your original passport is valid for at least six months to enter and leave Peru. Also, make sure your passport has two blank pages for the stamps when you come in and out.
  • Student ID: This is only required if you have booked Inca jungle Trek as a student. You must have a student card issued by your university (up to the age of 25). It should contain the following details: university information, personal information, a student photo and a valid date no later than 31 December of the year of travel.
  • Insect repellent: Use one with at least 15% DEET. Although there’s no reported malaria risk, it’s important to prevent bites and stay comfortable.
  • Tennis shoes: Tennis shoes or hiking boots that grip well are important when walking on uneven and steep lands.
  • Comfy clothing: Dress for cold and windy weather, and be sure to bring a waterproof and windproof jacket.
  • Good daypack: Choose a comfortable, lightweight, and compact backpack to carry all your belongings easily throughout the day.
  • Sun Block : Make sure you take sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat to protect yourself from the sun at high altitudes.
  • Personal Medication: Don’t forget to bring your own medicine and a basic first aid kit for the trip.
  • Hats and sunglasses: The sun is intense at high altitude and you should protect your eyes from the glare. Wear one that offers UV protection and is comfortable.
  • Warm clothing: Since temperatures can vary a lot between day and night, it’s essential to bring proper gear like fleeces, long-sleeve shirts, down jackets, and a waterproof outer layer to stay comfortable throughout the tour.
  • Hand Sanitizer: Always carry a small bottle of hand sanitizer with you to disinfect your hands before eating, drinking, or after using the bathroom. It’s an essential item for maintaining hygiene during your trip.

Day 1Welcome to Airport in Arequipa

Your Peruvian adventure begins the moment you land at Rodríguez Ballón International Airport (AQP) in Arequipa, famously known as the “White City.” As you arrive, our friendly team will be waiting for you with a personalized welcome sign, ready to greet you and escort you to your hotel so you can relax and start your journey smoothly.

Afternoon City Exploration (1:30 PM).

At 1:30 PM, you’ll step into the heart of Arequipa and begin a captivating exploration of its historic center. This is your chance to immerse yourself in the city’s rich heritage and vibrant culture as you visit:

  • The Monastery of Santa Catalina: Wander through this stunning architectural masterpiece, filled with colorful walls, peaceful courtyards, and beautiful Mudejar-style design.
  • The Plaza de Armas: Experience the lively energy of Arequipa’s main square, surrounded by colonial buildings and local life.
  • The Compañía de Jesús: Admire the impressive baroque facade and intricate interiors of this remarkable Jesuit church.

Day 2Arequipa - Colca Canyon - Chivay.

Your day begins early as you travel through the breathtaking scenery of Yura-Pampa Catahuas and La Pulpera. Keep your eyes open for herds of wild vicuñas, the graceful camelid natives of the Andes. You might even witness a rare local spectacle—fighting cattle, an unforgettable sight.

Next, you’ll step back in time at the Caves of Mollepunco, where ancient petroglyphs reveal the stories of long-gone civilizations. Then you’ll continue to the surreal rock formations of Callali, shaped by nature into whimsical figures that seem straight out of a fairytale.

As the day winds down, you’ll arrive at La Calera, where steaming thermal baths await. Slip into the warm water and let the soothing heat wash away the day’s adventures as you relax under a stunning canopy of stars. It’s the perfect moment to recharge your body and spirit.

Finally, you’ll head to Chivay, a charming village in the Colca Valley, where you’ll spend the night in comfortable accommodations. You’ll rest peacefully, ready for another day of discovery tomorrow.

Day 3Chivay - Cruz del Condor tour - Arequipa.

 

Rise with the sun and set off on a thrilling expedition to Cruz del Condor (Condor Cross). Perched at about 15,000 feet above sea level, this viewpoint gives you a front-row seat to the breathtaking Colca Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in the world.

Keep your eyes on the skies—this is your chance to see the magnificent Andean Condor, the largest flying bird in the Western Hemisphere. With wingspans that can reach up to 10 feet, these majestic birds glide effortlessly along the canyon walls, creating a truly unforgettable spectacle.

After you’ve soaked in the condors’ flight, you’ll explore nearby pre-Inca ruins, where ancient stones and mysterious structures offer a fascinating glimpse into civilizations of the past.

Upon arrival at Rodríguez Ballón International Airport in Arequipa, I was greeted by the friendly team, making me feel instantly at home in this charming city. After a smooth transfer to my hotel, I embarked on an afternoon exploration of Arequipa’s historic core, visiting iconic landmarks like the Monastery of Santa Catalina and the Plaza de Armas. The picturesque districts of Cayma and Yanahuara provided stunning views of the Misti Volcano, setting the stage for an unforgettable Peruvian adventure.

Day two was filled with excitement as we embarked on a full-day adventure to the Colca Valley. From encountering wild vicuñas to exploring ancient petroglyphs at the Caves of Mollepunco, every moment was filled with wonder and discovery.
