  • Accommodations: You’ll stay in a cozy, small hostel with rooms for 2 or 3 people. The beds are comfortable, so you can rest well after a full day.
  • First Aid kit: For any emergency, our guides are prepared and carry a fully equipped first aid kit.

  • Extra food and Snacks: You can buy it in Cusco or on the excursion. There are local shops where you can buy cookies, sodas and water..
  • Hot springs: the hot springs in santa teresa town costs 10 Soles and hot springs in Aguas calientes town cost you 20 soles.
  • Extra Hikes in Machu Picchu: Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu Mountain are optional hikes you can do on your own after your main tour—they don’t include a guide. If you want a guide for these hikes, just ask in advance; there’s an extra fee for that. Tickets for either Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain cost $60 each.

What to Bring

  • Original passport: Original passport is required—copies are not accepted. Please ensure it is valid for at least six months and contains at least two blank pages for entry and exit stamps when traveling to and from Peru.
  • Student ID: This is only required if you have booked the Inca Jungle Trek as a student. You must have a student card issued by your university (up to the age of 25). It should contain the following details: university information, personal information, a student photo and a valid date no later than 31 December of the year of travel.
  • Good-quality daypack:
  • Botle water or Camel Bag: The bottle needs to hold 2 litres of water. It is important to choose a water bottle that can keep your water cold.
  • Hiking shoes: Make sure they fit well and are broken in.
  • Trekking poles: We really recommend them for the excursion and they are very useful. You can rent them from us.
  • Insect repellent:You will need insect repellent containing 15% deet at least. There have been no reports of malaria risk. This is essential to avoid bites and discomfort.
  • Emergency money: Please remember to bring extra money for any emergencies that might happen on the trip. is ideal to bring 300 soles/90 dollars in cash.
  • Personal Medication: Make sure you take your own medicine and basic first aid kit with you.
Itinerary

Day 1Cusco – Abra Malaga – Santa Maria - Santa Teresa.

Your adventure begins with a hotel pickup between 4:00 a.m. and 4:30 a.m., followed by a scenic bus ride to Abra Málaga at 4,350 meters (12,271 feet). Enjoy breathtaking views of the Andean landscape as you ascend. Upon arrival, you’ll receive your safety equipment for the bike ride.

After a quick briefing, embark on a thrilling 3-hour downhill bike ride. Descend through diverse ecosystems, starting from the chilly high-altitude grasslands and sweeping through lush cloud forests, experiencing dramatic changes in scenery and climate. This exhilarating ride is a unique way to witness the region’s biodiversity while getting your adrenaline fix.

The ride ends at Huaman Marca, a fascinating and lesser-known Inca archaeological site. Explore the ancient ruins and soak in the rich history and tranquil surroundings.

Next, board a van to Santa Maria for a delicious lunch, followed by some rest. Then, enjoy an exhilarating 1-hour rafting adventure down the Vilcanota River, a fun and scenic way to experience the area’s natural beauty.

Finally, continue by bus to Santa Teresa, or head straight to the hot springs to relax and rejuvenate. In the evening, spend the night at a local hostel in Santa Teresa, enjoying authentic Andean hospitality and traditional cuisine.

Day 2Santa Teresa – Hidroeléctrica – Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

Depart Santa Teresa at 5:30 a.m. by local transport for Hidroeléctrica, a scenic 35-minute drive. Arriving around 6:00 a.m., begin a memorable 3-hour hike along the train tracks to the town of Aguas Calientes, surrounded by stunning jungle scenery.

Once in Aguas Calientes, enjoy some free time to explore the town at your own pace. At 10:15 a.m., board the bus to the awe-inspiring Machu Picchu. 

Your guided tour of Machu Picchu begins at noon. Spend approximately two hours exploring this iconic Inca citadel, discovering its majestic temples, agricultural terraces, and ceremonial plazas. Your knowledgeable guide will bring the ancient city to life by sharing the rich history and fascinating stories of the Inca civilization.

After the tour, return to Aguas Calientes to catch the train back to Cusco, or choose to walk back along the train tracks to Hidroeléctrica and continue by bus to Cusco.
