  • Transportation: You will enjoy a private tourist minibus transfer from your hotel in Cusco to Abra Malaga, the official starting point of the excursion. This comfortable and convenient transfer ensures a smooth beginning to your adventure.
  • Machu Picchu Tickets: We handle the purchase and secure your entrance tickets to Machu Picchu in advance. During peak seasons, tickets can be in high demand and sometimes difficult to obtain. But don’t worry, we’re here to guide you through the process and help ensure you get your ticket to this iconic site.
  • Machu Picchu guided tour: Enjoy a comprehensive 2-hour and 30-minute guided tour led by one of our expert guides. Please note that the guided tour is available only for Circuit 2. If your ticket is for Circuits 1 or 3, you will explore those on your own.

  • Return Options from Machu Picchu: At the end of your visit, you can choose your preferred way back, we include the return trip in your package. By car: Approximate cost of US$10 and By train: Approximate cost of US$70 Let us know your preference, and we’ll help arrange a smooth and comfortable return.

  • Meals not Included : Please note that breakfast on Day 1 and lunch and dinner on Day 4 are not included in the package.
  • Extra food and Snacks: If you want extra snacks or drinks, you can easily buy them either in Cusco before the trek or during the excursion. Local shops along the route offer items like cookies, sodas, and bottled water to keep you fueled and refreshed.
  • Hot Springs: Relax and unwind after your trek at the local hot springs. In Santa Teresa, the entrance fee is 10 Soles and In Aguas Calientes, it costs 20 Soles. Both offer a perfect way to soothe your muscles and enjoy the natural beauty of the area.
  • Bus Tickets to and from Machu Picchu Please note that bus tickets going up to and down from Machu Picchu are not included in the package. You can purchase tickets either in Aguas Calientes or after your visit to Machu Picchu. The bus costs approximately $12 USD each way. Alternatively, if you prefer, you can walk between Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu, which takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
  • Extra Hikes in Machu Picchu : Within the Machu Picchu citadel, you have the option to climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain. These extra hikes are usually done on your own after the main tour, as they do not include a guide. If you would prefer a guided experience, please let us know in advance. There is an additional cost for a guided tour. Tickets for Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain cost approximately $60 each.

Recommended to carry

  • Original Passport Required: Please remember that a copy of your passport is not accepted. You must carry your original passport, which should be valid for at least six months from your entry date to Peru. Also, make sure your passport has at least two blank pages available for entry and exit stamps.
  • Student ID Requirements: If you’ve booked the Inca Jungle Trek as a student, you must present a valid student ID card issued by your university. This ID should have : Be for students up to 25 years old, Include your university’s information, Display your personal details and a student photo, Have a valid date no later than December 31 of the travel year Make sure to bring this with you to benefit from any student discounts or special arrangements.
  • Good-Quality Daypack: It’s essential to have a comfortable, lightweight, and compact backpack to carry your belongings during the trek. A good-quality daypack makes it easier to keep your essentials handy without weighing you down.
  • Water Bottle or CamelBak: Make sure to bring a water container that can hold at least 2 liters of water. It’s important to choose a bottle or CamelBak that can keep your water cold, so you stay refreshed throughout your trek.
  • Trekking Poles: We highly recommend using trekking poles during the excursion—they provide extra support and make hiking easier. If you don’t have your own, you can rent them from us.
  • Hiking Shoes: Make sure your hiking shoes fit well and are properly broken in before the trek. This will help prevent blisters and keep your feet comfortable on the trails.
  • Insect repellent:You will need insect repellent containing 15% deet at least. There have been no reports of malaria risk. This is essential to avoid bites and discomfort.
  • Emergency money: Please remember to bring extra money for any emergencies that might happen on the trip. is ideal to bring 300 soles/90 dollars in cash.
  • Personal Medication: Make sure you take your own medicine and basic first aid kit with you.

  3. A non-refundable deposit of US$ 200.00 plus a 6% fee (US$ 212.00 per person) is required. Please make deposits through by PayPal.

Note: The deposit for all our tours and treks of 2 days or more is US$ 200.00 (plus US$12 PayPal fee) per person.

  • The tour will not be confirmed without a completed booking form and deposit sent to Peru Travel. The deposit is US$ 200 per person and is non-refundable. We accept payments via PayPal, which charges a 6% fee, so the total per person is US$212 and should be sent to perutravelcompany@gmail.com. We will send you the invoice and confirmation of your booking via email once we receive your information and deposit.

There are two ways to return from Machu Picchu

Decide how you want to get back to Cusco after visiting Machu Picchu, and pick the option that suits your budget and preferences.

PRICES:

  2. by Train: US$ 70.

Return by minibus:

If you decide to come back on the minibus, you have to start walking back at 11:00 a.m. from Machu Picchu to Hidrolectrica Station. The walk takes three hours. this walk involves an initial 30–40 minute descent and about 2 hours hours of flat ground next to train tracks. you must be at 02: 30 PM, to catch the minibus, The journey takes about six to seven hours. You will arrive back in Cusco at around 10 p.m. The minibus will drop you off in the centre of Cusco. 

  • The price is for each adult, with minibus option :US$ 245
  • The price is for each Student, with minibus option : US$ 225

Return by Train:

The train is usually for 2:30 pm, 2:55 pm and 3:20 pm, upon the availiblitiy. to take the train you must take a bus ( 25 minutes) or walk (1 hour ) down from machu picchu to aguas calientes. once there, spend some time exploring the town or have lunch, you must be at train stations 30 minutes before departure, the journey to ollantaytambo takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes. once there, the driver will be waiting for you and you be taken by minibus back to cusco for 1 hour and 40 minutes. you will be dropped off at Plaza Regocijo. which is the end of the tour.  

  • The price is for each adult, with Train  option: US$  305
  • The price is for each adult, with Train option :US$  385

Up-Grade to Vistadome Train:  If you choose the return train option, it includes the Expedition or Voyager service, both of which offer panoramic windows for scenic views. For a more immersive experience, you can upgrade to the Vistadome train, which features a glass ceiling and onboard entertainment including traditional dancing and live music, for an additional US$ 60 per person. This upgrade is only available for those choosing the return train, and must be added at the time of booking the Salkantay Trek, and cannot be changed at a later date.

If you are going on the Inca Jungle Trek, the ideal to prepare your backpack in advance. We recommend that you bring a small backpack, and leave your bigger one at the hostel in Cusco. Make sure you only bring your necesary things you will need for 4 days of the trek

During the days on the trek, Remember, you will be carrying your backpack with you for the entire trek, so you should carry a light, comfortable and good quality backpack. due to regulation issued by the local government, your backpack should not exceed 25 litres in sixe and large bags are not allowed to be carried inside Machu picchu, if you have one make sure that your largae backpack looks as small as possicle to carry inside Machu picchu.

  • Hats and sunglasses: The sun is intense at high altitude and you should protect your eyes from the glare. Wear one that offers UV protection and is comfortable.

  • Rain gear: The trail can be wet especially in the rainy season. Have quality gear and clothing with materials such as Gore-tex that will keep your skin dry while you perspire during the hike.
  • Warm clothing: During the excursion, where the temperature fluctuates during the day and night, it is mandatory to have good clothing equipment such as: fleeces, long-sleeved shirts, down jackets and a waterproof layer.
  • Sunscreen: Choose a good sunscreen (high factor) and apply it before starting the hike and regularly during the day if you are sweating.
  • Hand sanitizer: Carry a good hand sanitizer to disinfect hands before eating, drinking and after using the bathroom. We recommend carrying a small bottle of hand sanitizer throughout the day.
  • Snacks: bring snacks that are rich in energy and easy to digest. This, because chocolate bars or cookies are not ideal, as they can be heavy for the stomach and leave you with an impression of sluggishness, so we recommend taking granola bars or a mixture of nuts which will give enough energy to perform the walk.
  • Extra money: take money preferably in soles for drinks, tips and souvenirs: during the excursion you will find facilities or bathrooms where you will have to pay for the use of some of them.
Itinerary

Day 1Cusco – Abra Malaga – Huaman Marca – Santa Maria

Pick up from your hotel between 6.30am and 7.00am followed by a scenic bus ride to Abra Malaga. This route offers spectacular views of the Andean landscape as you climb to the starting point of your cycling adventure.

After gearing up and a safety briefing, embark on a thrilling 3-hour bike ride. Descend through diverse ecosystems, starting from the chilly high-altitude grasslands and sweeping through lush cloud forests, experiencing a dramatic change in scenery and climate. This journey is not only an adrenaline rush but also a unique way to witness the biodiversity of the region.

Conclude the day at Huaman Marca, an intriguing archaeological site. Spend some time exploring these lesser-known ruins, which provide a quiet contrast to the busier sites later in the trek.

You will then board the van to take you to the town of Santa Maria for lunch.
After lunch and a nap, you’ll embark on a wonderful one hour Rafting trip down the Vilcanota River.

Overnight stay in local hostels in Santa Maria. This offers a wonderful opportunity to engage with local communities, enjoy authentic Andean hospitality, and taste traditional cuisine.

  • Altitude Range: 4,350m to 1,430m
  • Biking Distance: 48 km/ 1.5 to 2 hours. 
  • Rafting time: 1.5 hours

Day 2Santa Maria - Santa Teresa

Start at 6:00 AM with breakfast, then begin your hike alongside the river. As you climb up an original Inca trail, discover the rich flora and fauna of the region. This path is a historical treasure trove, offering insights into Inca engineering and their deep connection with nature.

The hike passes through Quellomayo for lunch and relaxation. Enjoy a peaceful break in this small village, perhaps indulging in some local fruit or chatting with villagers.

Continue to the Santa Teresa hot springs for a soothing dip. These natural hot springs are the perfect remedy for your tired muscles, and they also offer a serene setting to reflect on the day’s journey.

Finish the day with a hike to Santa Teresa, where another warm hostel awaits you

Day 3Santa Teresa – Aguas Calientes Town

Get up at 06:30 AM, have breakfast, and get ready for another adventure.

After breakfast at around 08: 00 AM, the zip line company will pick you up and take you to start of the ziplines. After a short introduction, you will begin your exciting 2-hour adventure, crossing four different cables.

After zipline activity, Take a 1-hour car ride to Hidroelectrica for lunch. After lunch, then continue with a leisurely walk along the train tracks to Aguas Calientes town. This path is flanked by lush jungle and the soothing sounds of the nearby river, making it a picturesque route to the town.
When you arrive, check into your hotel and relax

Explore Aguas Calientes or visit the hot springs. The town offers a range of cafes and shops, providing a pleasant contrast to the natural surroundings. Alternatively, relax in the local hot springs, a perfect prelude to the next day’s exploration of Machu Picchu.

Dinner and overnight in a hostel, where you’ll receive a briefing to prepare for your visit to Machu Picchu.

Day 4Machu Picchu (Visit to the Inca Citadel)

To get to Machu picchu, to reach to the main gate of Machu Picchu from Aguas Calientes, you have two options. You can either walk for an hour and 30 minutes through beautiful scenery, or take a bus for US$12. You can decide on the same day of your visit to Machu Picchu. No matter which option you choose, your day will start very early in the morning, depending on what time you are allowed to enter Machu Picchu, with a delicious breakfast at your hotel in Aguas Calientes.

Bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu picchu, You can buy a bus ticket in town, either the night before or on the same morning. the first bus leaves fro Aguas calientes at 05:30 AM, The bus ride takes about 30 minutes to reach Machu Picchu. once your arrive there, you will meet your group and the guide, You will then all get in togetter to start exploring Machu picchu citadel.

Embarking on the Cusco to Machu Picchu adventure via Abra Malaga and Santa Teresa was the highlight of our trip to Peru. From the moment we were picked up in Cusco, we knew we were in for an unforgettable experience.
