There are two ways to return from Machu Picchu
Decide how you want to get back to Cusco after visiting Machu Picchu, and pick the option that suits your budget and preferences.

Return by minibus:
If you decide to come back on the minibus, you have to start walking back at 11:00 a.m. from Machu Picchu to Hidrolectrica Station.
The walk takes three hours. this walk involves an initial 30–40 minute descent and about 2 hours hours of flat ground next to train tracks. you must be at 02: 30 PM, to catch the minibus,
The journey takes about six to seven hours. You will arrive back in Cusco at around 10 p.m. The minibus will drop you off in the centre of Cusco.
Return by Train:
The train is usually for 2:30 pm, 2:55 pm and 3:20 pm, upon the availiblitiy. to take the train you must take a bus ( 25 minutes) or walk (1 hour ) down from machu picchu to aguas calientes.
once there, spend some time exploring the town or have lunch, you must be at train stations 30 minutes before departure, the journey to ollantaytambo takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes.
once there, the driver will be waiting for you and you be taken by minibus back to cusco for 1 hour and 40 minutes. you will be dropped off at Plaza Regocijo. which is the end of the tour.
Up-Grade to Vistadome Train: US$ 360.
If you choose the return train option, it includes the Expedition or Voyager service, both of which offer panoramic windows for scenic views.
For a more immersive experience, you can upgrade to the Vistadome train, which features a glass ceiling and onboard entertainment including traditional dancing and live music, for an additional US$60.00 per person.
This upgrade is only available for those choosing the return train, and must be added at the time of booking the Salkantay Trek, and cannot be changed at a later date.

F.A.Q. ¿What should I pack in my backpack?
If you are travelling to a trekking destination, you should prepare your backpack in advance, especially for the Inca Jungle Trek. We recommend that you bring one or two large backpacks, depending on the length of your holiday. Carry only what you need for the 3 days of the trek, this means that any extra items or belongings you don’t need can be left at your hotel in Cusco or in our backpack storage room in Cusco.

During the days on the trek, Remember, you will be carrying your backpack with you for the entire trek, so you should carry a light, comfortable and good quality backpack. due to regulation issued by the local government, your backpack should not exceed 25 litres in sixe and large bags are not allowed to be carried inside Machu picchu, if you have one make sure that your largae backpack looks as small as possicle to carry inside Machu picchu.

On Day 2, the altitude ranges from a maximum of 2,100m to a minimum of 1,800m in Santa Teresa. On Day 3, the altitude ranges from a maximum of 2,450m to a minimum of 2,100m in Aguas Calientes.
