There are two ways to return from Machu Picchu
Decide how you want to get back to Cusco after visiting Machu Picchu, and pick the option that suits your budget and preferences.

Return by minibus:
If you return by minibus, start walking from Machu Picchu to Hidroeléctrica at 11:00 a.m. The walk takes about 3 hours—a short descent followed by flat terrain along the train tracks.
Be at Hidroeléctrica by 2:30 p.m. to catch the minibus. The ride to Cusco takes 6–7 hours, with arrival around 10:00 p.m. You’ll be dropped off in the city center.
Return by Train:
If returning by train, departures are usually at 2:30 p.m., 2:55 p.m., or 3:20 p.m., based on availability.
To reach Aguas Calientes, either walk (1 hour) or take a bus (25 minutes) from Machu Picchu.
Be at the train station 30 minutes early.
The train to Ollantaytambo takes 1 hour 45 minutes, followed by a 1 hour 40 minute minibus ride to Cusco, where you’ll be dropped off at Plaza Regocijo, ending the tour.
Up-Grade to Vistadome Train:
The return train includes the Expedition or Voyager service, both offering panoramic windows for scenic views.
For a more immersive experience, you can upgrade to the Vistadome train for an additional US$ 60 per person. The Vistadome features a glass ceiling and onboard entertainment like traditional dancing and live music.
This upgrade is only available at the time of booking the Inka Jungle Trek and cannot be changed later.

F.A.Q. ¿What should I pack in my backpack?
If you are going on the Inca Jungle Trek, the ideal to prepare your backpack in advance. We recommend that you bring a small backpack, and leave your bigger one at the hostel in Cusco. Make sure you only bring your necesary things you will need for 4 days of the trek

During the days on the trek, Remember, you will be carrying your backpack with you for the entire trek, so you should carry a light, comfortable and good quality backpack. due to regulation issued by the local government, your backpack should not exceed 25 litres in sixe and large bags are not allowed to be carried inside Machu picchu, if you have one make sure that your largae backpack looks as small as possicle to carry inside Machu picchu.

Pick up from your hotel between 6.30am and 7.00am followed by a scenic bus ride to Abra Malaga. This route offers spectacular views of the Andean landscape as you climb to the starting point of your cycling adventure.
After gearing up and a safety briefing, embark on a thrilling 3-hour bike ride. Descend through diverse ecosystems, starting from the chilly high-altitude grasslands and sweeping through lush cloud forests, experiencing a dramatic change in scenery and climate. This journey is not only an adrenaline rush but also a unique way to witness the biodiversity of the region.
Conclude the day at Huaman Marca, an intriguing archaeological site. Spend some time exploring these lesser-known ruins, which provide a quiet contrast to the busier sites later in the trek.
You will then board the van to take you to the town of Santa Maria for lunch.
After lunch and a nap, you’ll embark on a wonderful one hour Rafting trip down the Vilcanota River.
Overnight stay in local hostels in Santa Maria. This offers a wonderful opportunity to engage with local communities, enjoy authentic Andean hospitality, and taste traditional cuisine.
Start at 6:00 AM with breakfast, then begin your hike alongside the river. As you climb up an original Inca trail, discover the rich flora and fauna of the region. This path is a historical treasure trove, offering insights into Inca engineering and their deep connection with nature.
The hike passes through Quellomayo for lunch and relaxation. Enjoy a peaceful break in this small village, perhaps indulging in some local fruit or chatting with villagers.
Continue to the Santa Teresa hot springs for a soothing dip. These natural hot springs are the perfect remedy for your tired muscles, and they also offer a serene setting to reflect on the day’s journey.

Get up at 06:30 AM, have breakfast, and get ready for another adventure.
After breakfast at around 08: 00 AM, the zip line company will pick you up and take you to start of the ziplines. After a short introduction, you will begin your exciting 2-hour adventure, crossing four different cables.
After zipline activity, Take a 1-hour car ride to Hidroelectrica for lunch. After lunch, then continue with a leisurely walk along the train tracks to Aguas Calientes town. This path is flanked by lush jungle and the soothing sounds of the nearby river, making it a picturesque route to the town.
When you arrive, check into your hotel and relax
Explore Aguas Calientes or visit the hot springs. The town offers a range of cafes and shops, providing a pleasant contrast to the natural surroundings. Alternatively, relax in the local hot springs, a perfect prelude to the next day’s exploration of Machu Picchu.

To get to Machu picchu, to reach to the main gate of Machu Picchu from Aguas Calientes, you have two options. You can either walk for an hour and 30 minutes through beautiful scenery, or take a bus for US$12. You can decide on the same day of your visit to Machu Picchu. No matter which option you choose, your day will start very early in the morning, depending on what time you are allowed to enter Machu Picchu, with a delicious breakfast at your hotel in Aguas Calientes.
