Excludes

  • Meals: Food is not included. Please budget for and arrange your own breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks, with recommendations provided by our guide at local restaurants.
  • Hot Springs: If you would like to relax in the thermal baths in Aguas Calientes, there is a small entrance fee of 20 soles per person. You can pay this fee upon arrival.
  • Additional Expenses: Personal Costs such as souvenirs, extra activities, or other incidentals are not included. Please budget accordingly based on your preferences.
  • Gratuities for Guides and Staff : Tips for guides, drivers, and staff are not included. Tipping is optional but appreciated.
  • Alcoholic beverages: These are not included in the tour price and must be purchased separately.
  • Optional extra hikes in Machu Picchu: You can do optional hikes to Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu Mountain after the main tour. Tickets cost $60 each (subject to availability).

What to Bring

  • Original Passport :A copy is not accepted, you must carry your original passport, valid for at least six months. Ensure it has at least two blank pages for entry and exit stamps.
  • Student ID: (Physical Original Required) If you applied for a student discount, digital copies are not accepted. The card must be issued by your university, for travelers up to 25 years old, and include your photo, personal info, university details, and a valid date through December 31 of your travel year.
  • Insect repellent: Use one with at least 15% DEET. Although there’s no reported malaria risk, it’s important to prevent bites and stay comfortable.
  • Tennis shoes: Tennis shoes or hiking boots that grip well are important when walking on uneven and steep lands.
  • Comfy clothing: Dress for cold and windy weather, and be sure to bring a waterproof and windproof jacket.
  • Good daypack: Choose a comfortable, lightweight, and compact backpack to carry all your belongings easily throughout the day.
  • Sun Block : Make sure you take sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat to protect yourself from the sun at high altitudes.
  • Emergency money: Be sure to carry extra cash for any unexpected expenses during your trip. It’s recommended to bring around 300 soles (about 90 dollars)
  • Personal Medication: Don’t forget to bring your own medicine and a basic first aid kit for the trip.
  • Hats and sunglasses: The sun is intense at high altitude and you should protect your eyes from the glare. Wear one that offers UV protection and is comfortable.
  • Rain gear: The trails can get wet during the Tour, especially during the rainy season. Make sure to bring quality waterproof gear and clothing made with materials like Gore-Tex to keep you dry while staying comfortable as you hike.
  • Warm clothing: Since temperatures can vary a lot between day and night, it’s essential to bring proper gear like fleeces, long-sleeve shirts, down jackets, and a waterproof outer layer to stay comfortable throughout the tour.
  • Swimwear: Bring sandals and swimwear for the hot springs in the town of Aguas Calientes.
  • Hand Sanitizer: Always carry a small bottle of hand sanitizer with you to disinfect your hands before eating, drinking, or after using the bathroom. It’s an essential item for maintaining hygiene during your trip.
  • Snacks:Bring high-energy, easy-to-digest snacks for the trek. Avoid heavy options like chocolate bars or cookies, which can cause sluggishness. Instead, opt for granola bars or a mix of nuts—these provide sustained energy without upsetting your stomach.
  • Tickets: Make sure you have all your tickets, including those for the train and any entrance fees. Either print them or download them to your phone for easy access.
Itinerary

Day 1Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes.

Start of the Experience: You’ll begin your day early with a comfortable transfer from your hotel in Cusco. Our driver will pick you up for a scenic drive of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to the train station in Ollantaytambo.

Train Journey to Aguas Calientes: At Ollantaytambo, you’ll board the train headed to Aguas Calientes. During this 1 hour and 50 minute journey, you’ll enjoy spectacular views of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, surrounded by mountains, rivers, and archaeological sites.

Once you arrive in Aguas Calientes (located at 2,000 meters above sea level), our staff will welcome you at the station and accompany you to your hotel. This charming town is known for its relaxing hot springs and cozy atmosphere.

Free Afternoon to Relax: You’ll have the rest of the afternoon free to rest, explore the town, or enjoy the natural hot springs. It’s the perfect time to unwind and prepare for the adventure ahead.

Informative Briefing with Your Guide: In the evening, your guide will contact you via WhatsApp to provide a brief informational session. During this time, you’ll receive all the important details about your visit to Machu Picchu, ensuring you’re fully prepared for this unique experience.

Day 2Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu Citadel.

Journey to Machu Picchu: At the scheduled time, you’ll depart from Aguas Calientes on a short bus ride to the majestic Inca citadel of Machu Picchu one of the most iconic archaeological sites in the world.

Guided Tour of the Citadel: Upon arrival, you’ll head to the main entrance and begin a guided tour lasting approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. Accompanied by a knowledgeable guide, you’ll explore the most remarkable areas of the sanctuary, including agricultural terraces, temples, plazas, and scenic viewpoints. As you walk through its stone pathways, the rich history, stunning architecture, and cultural legacy of the Incas will come to life.

Optional: Hike to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain
If you’ve pre-booked entry to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, and conditions allow, you’ll have the opportunity to hike up one of these mountains for breathtaking panoramic views of the citadel and surrounding landscape.

Return to Cusco: In the afternoon, you’ll return to Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included) before boarding the train back to Ollantaytambo. Upon arrival, our private transport will be waiting to take you back to Cusco.
