Machu Picchu + Sacred Valley Tour – 2 Days – Connection.

Day 1: Sacred Valley Tour + Train to Aguas Calientes.

  • Pick-up from your hostel at 7:50 a.m. to explore the Sacred Valley. Visit the artisan market and archaeological site of Pisac, then enjoy a buffet lunch in Urubamba.
  • In the afternoon, explore the impressive fortress of Ollantaytambo.
  • In the evening, board the 7:00 p.m. train to Aguas Calientes (approx. 1 hr 45 min). Upon arrival,
  • transfer to your hotel and rest for the next day’s adventure.

Day 2: Machu Picchu Guided Tour + Return to Cusco.

  • Early morning visit to Machu Picchu to enjoy sunrise and a guided tour of the main highlights.
  • Optional hike to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain (advance booking required).
  • In the afternoon, return by train to Ollantaytambo and transfer back to your hotel in Cusco.

  • Round Trip bus tickets from: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes.

Excludes

  • Meals (Lunch): After Machu Picchu, you’ll have time for lunch in Aguas Calientes, where many restaurants are available.
  • Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain Hike: $70 USD (optional, upon request). After the main tour, you can hike up Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain.
  • Additional Expenses: Personal costs such as souvenirs, optional activities, and other incidentals are not included. Please budget accordingly.
  • Hot springs: If you want to relax at the Aguas Calientes thermal baths, there is a small entrance fee of 20 soles per person. You can pay this fee when you arrive.
  • Alcoholic beverages: These are not included in the tour price and must be purchased separately.
  • Hostel in Aguas calientes town: 1 night hostel in Aguas Calientes or Machu picchu pueblo (includes breakfast).

What to Bring

  • Original Passport: A copy is not accepted, you must carry your original passport, valid for at least six months. Ensure it has at least two blank pages for entry and exit stamps.
  • Student ID: If you applied for a student discount, digital copies are not accepted. The card must be issued by your university, for travelers up to 25 years old, and include your photo, personal info, university details, and a valid date through December 31 of your travel year.
  • Good daypack: Choose a comfortable, lightweight, and compact backpack to carry all your belongings easily throughout the day.
  • Tennis shoes: Tennis shoes or hiking boots that grip well are important when walking on uneven and steep lands.
  • Comfy clothing: Dress for cold and windy weather, and be sure to bring a waterproof and windproof jacket.
  • Snacks: Bring high-energy, easy-to-digest snacks for the trek. Avoid heavy options like chocolate bars or cookies, which can cause sluggishness. Instead, opt for granola bars or a mix of nuts—these provide sustained energy without upsetting your stomach.
  • Sun Block: Make sure you take sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat to protect yourself from the sun at high altitudes.
  • Personal Medication: Don’t forget to bring your own medicine and a basic first aid kit for the trip.
  • Insect repellent: Use one with at least 15% DEET. Although there’s no reported malaria risk, it’s important to prevent bites and stay comfortable.
  • Hats and sunglasses: The sun is intense at high altitude and you should protect your eyes from the glare. Wear one that offers UV protection and is comfortable.
  • Rain gear: The trails can get wet during the Tour, especially during the rainy season. Make sure to bring quality waterproof gear and clothing made with materials like Gore-Tex to keep you dry while staying comfortable as you hike.
  • Warm clothing: Since temperatures can vary a lot between day and night, it’s essential to bring proper gear like fleeces, long-sleeve shirts, down jackets, and a waterproof outer layer to stay comfortable throughout the tour.
  • Hand Sanitizer: Always carry a small bottle of hand sanitizer with you to disinfect your hands before eating, drinking, or after using the bathroom. It’s an essential item for maintaining hygiene during your trip.
  • Emergency money: Be sure to carry extra cash for any unexpected expenses during your trip. It’s recommended to bring around 300 soles (about 90 dollars).
Itinerary

Day 1Tour to the Sacred Valley of the Incas

Sacred Valley Tour + Train to Aguas Calientes

You’ll be picked up from your hostel at 7:50 a.m. to begin your journey through the breathtaking Sacred Valley of the Incas. Along the way, you’ll stop at lively artisan markets where you can browse and find unique, handcrafted souvenirs.

Next, you’ll explore the impressive archaeological site of Pisac, known for its stunning terraces carved into the mountainside. After that, enjoy a delicious buffet lunch in the charming town of Urubamba — the perfect opportunity to relax and recharge.

In the afternoon, you’ll visit the remarkable Fortress of Ollantaytambo, often referred to as the “living Inca city” due to its rich history and excellent preservation.

After your visit, you’ll walk about 10 minutes to the train station in Ollantaytambo, where you’ll board the 7:00 p.m. train to Aguas Calientes. This scenic journey through the Andes takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Once you arrive in Aguas Calientes, you’ll check into your pre-arranged hotel and unwind — ready for the adventure that awaits at Machu Picchu the next day.

Day 2Tour to Machu Picchu “The lost city of the Incas”

Machu Picchu Guided Tour + Return to Cusco

You’ll start your day early to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu — a truly unforgettable moment. After soaking in the view, you’ll take a guided tour through the most iconic areas of the site, including the Main Plaza, the Temple of the Sun, the Inti Watana (solar clock), the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, and the ceremonial cemeteries.

Once your guided tour is complete, you’ll have the option to continue exploring on your own with a hike to the summit of Huayna Picchu or the Machu Picchu Mountain. These optional treks take a few hours and offer incredible scenery and sweeping panoramic views. (Please note: these hikes are unguided and require advance booking.)

After your hike, you’ll take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes. In the afternoon, you’ll board the train to Ollantaytambo, where our team will be waiting to take you by bus back to your hotel in Cusco.
