  • Briefing before the tour: A briefing will be held the evening before the tour at around 7:00 p.m., led by our staff. Please let us know the name of the hotel where you’ll be staying in Cusco.
  • Guided Tour: A professional guide will join you throughout your visit to Machu Picchu, offering expert insights and fascinating information to enrich your experience.
  • Transportation: You will be provided with comfortable tourist transportation to and from the train station in Ollantaytambo, with pick-up and drop-off directly at your hotel in Cusco.
  • Train: Round-trip train tickets to and from Aguas Calientes, the closest town to Machu Picchu, are included. You can choose between standard and more comfortable options, such as PeruRail’s Expedition or Vistadome trains, and Inca Rail’s Voyager class. Departure times are at 12:36 PM or 12:55 PM. For the return trip, trains depart at 2:30 PM or 2:55 PM. These trains are comfortable and offer pleasant travel, allowing you to enjoy beautiful views of the countryside on your journey back.
  • Entrance Ticket to Machu Picchu: Your entry is typically scheduled for 9:00 AM or 10:00 AM for Circuit 01, 02, or 03. After that, enjoy a 2.5-hour guided tour to explore the secrets and wonders of Machu Picchu. We handle the purchase and secure your entrance tickets to Machu Picchu, subject to availability.
  • Bus Tickets to and from Machu Picchu: Enjoy a 30-minute bus ride from Aguas Calientes to the entrance of Machu Picchu, getting you ready for an unforgettable experience. After your visit, take the return 30-minute ride back to Aguas Calientes—plenty of time to relax, reflect, and scroll through the incredible photos you just captured.
  • Accommodation: Stay overnight at a cozy hostel in Aguas Calientes, giving you a comfortable rest before your next day’s adventure.

Excludes

  • Meals: The package price does not include any meals, such as breakfasts, lunches, dinners, or snacks. You'll need to budget for and make your own arrangements for meals at local restaurants or cafes in the towns you visit.
  • Hot springs : If you want to relax at the Aguas Calientes thermal baths, there is a small entrance fee of 20 soles per person. You can pay this fee when you arrive.
  • Additional expenses: Personal expenses, such as souvenirs, additional activities, or other incidentals that you may incur during the tour are not included in the package. You should set aside funds to cover these additional expenses according to your personal preferences.
  • Tips for Guides and Staff: Gratuities for guides, drivers, and other personnel are not included in the tour price. While tipping is optional, it is a kind gesture and greatly appreciated when you receive good service.
  • Alcoholic beverages: If meals are included, they usually do not include alcoholic beverages, which must be purchased separately.
  • Extra hikes in Machu picchu: Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu Mountain are optional treks within Machu Picchu Citadel which do not include a guide. The climb is usually done on your own after your tour of Machu Picchu Citadel. If you would like the extra hike to be guided, please request in advance. There is an extra cost for this extra guided tour., Tickets for Huayna Picchu or Machu picchu Mountain: cost them 60 dollars each one.

Recommended to carry

  • Original Passport: You can't use a copy of your passport; you need to make sure your original passport is valid for at least six months to enter and leave Peru. Also, make sure your passport has two blank pages for the stamps when you come in and out.
  • Student ID: Required only if you booked Machu Picchu tour as a student. Your student card must be issued by your university (for travelers up to 25 years old) and include university details, your personal info, a photo, and a valid date no later than December 31 of the travel year.
  • Insect repellent: Use one with at least 15% DEET. Although there’s no reported malaria risk, it’s important to prevent bites and stay comfortable.
  • Tennis shoes: Tennis shoes or hiking boots that grip well are important when walking on uneven and steep lands.
  • Comfy clothing: Dress for cold and windy weather, and be sure to bring a waterproof and windproof jacket.
  • Good daypack: Choose a comfortable, lightweight, and compact backpack to carry all your belongings easily throughout the day.
  • Sun Block : Make sure you take sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat to protect yourself from the sun at high altitudes.
  • Emergency money: Be sure to carry extra cash for any unexpected expenses during your trip. It’s recommended to bring around 300 soles (about 90 dollars)
  • Personal Medication: Don’t forget to bring your own medicine and a basic first aid kit for the trip.
  • Hats and sunglasses: The sun is intense at high altitude and you should protect your eyes from the glare. Wear one that offers UV protection and is comfortable.
  • Rain gear: The trails can get wet during the Tour, especially during the rainy season. Make sure to bring quality waterproof gear and clothing made with materials like Gore-Tex to keep you dry while staying comfortable as you hike.
  • Warm clothing: Since temperatures can vary a lot between day and night, it’s essential to bring proper gear like fleeces, long-sleeve shirts, down jackets, and a waterproof outer layer to stay comfortable throughout the tour.
  • Hand Sanitizer: Always carry a small bottle of hand sanitizer with you to disinfect your hands before eating, drinking, or after using the bathroom. It’s an essential item for maintaining hygiene during your trip.
  • Snacks: Bring high-energy, easy-to-digest snacks for the trek. Avoid heavy options like chocolate bars or cookies, which can cause sluggishness. Instead, opt for granola bars or a mix of nuts—these provide sustained energy without upsetting your stomach.
Itinerary

Day 1Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes.

Start of the Experience: You’ll begin your day early with a comfortable transfer from your hotel in Cusco. Our driver will pick you up for a scenic drive of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to the train station in Ollantaytambo.

Train Journey to Aguas Calientes: At Ollantaytambo, you’ll board the train headed to Aguas Calientes. During this 1 hour and 50 minute journey, you’ll enjoy spectacular views of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, surrounded by mountains, rivers, and archaeological sites.

Once you arrive in Aguas Calientes (located at 2,000 meters above sea level), our staff will welcome you at the station and accompany you to your hotel. This charming town is known for its relaxing hot springs and cozy atmosphere.

Free Afternoon to Relax: You’ll have the rest of the afternoon free to rest, explore the town, or enjoy the natural hot springs. It’s the perfect time to unwind and prepare for the adventure ahead.

Informative Briefing with Your Guide: In the evening, your guide will contact you via WhatsApp to provide a brief informational session. During this time, you’ll receive all the important details about your visit to Machu Picchu, ensuring you’re fully prepared for this unique experience.

Day 2Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu Citadel.

Journey to Machu Picchu: At the scheduled time, you’ll depart from Aguas Calientes on a short bus ride to the majestic Inca citadel of Machu Picchu one of the most iconic archaeological sites in the world.

Guided Tour of the Citadel: Upon arrival, you’ll head to the main entrance and begin a guided tour lasting approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. Accompanied by a knowledgeable guide, you’ll explore the most remarkable areas of the sanctuary, including agricultural terraces, temples, plazas, and scenic viewpoints. As you walk through its stone pathways, the rich history, stunning architecture, and cultural legacy of the Incas will come to life.

Optional: Hike to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain
If you’ve pre-booked entry to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, and conditions allow, you’ll have the opportunity to hike up one of these mountains for breathtaking panoramic views of the citadel and surrounding landscape.

Return to Cusco: In the afternoon, you’ll return to Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included) before boarding the train back to Ollantaytambo. Upon arrival, our private transport will be waiting to take you back to Cusco.
