Whether you’re seeking a scenic family float on the Urubamba River, adrenaline-pumping rapids on the Apurimac, or a remote expedition through the Amazon’s headwaters in the Tambopata Jungle, we have the perfect adventure for you. All ages and skill levels are welcome—no prior rafting experience required, just a sense of adventure.
Join us for a journey where thrilling rapids meet breathtaking landscapes, wildlife encounters, and nights under the Southern Hemisphere stars. Your adventure starts here.
We’ll pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 08:30 and begin the five-hour drive through the Andes to the starting point at Huallpachaca Bridge (6,562 ft). You’ll have plenty of time along the way to enjoy the changing landscapes as you gradually descend into the impressive Apurímac Canyon. Once you arrive, you will have lunch and time to settle in before preparing for the river activity.
After lunch, your guide will provide a comprehensive safety briefing and demonstrate essential rafting techniques. We place special emphasis on practising key skills such as getting back into the raft, flipping the raft safely and swimming through a rapid. You will also take part in a short but important river rescue drill to help build your confidence before you begin the descent.
Once everything is ready, you’ll start paddling down the Apurímac for about an hour and a a half, which will give you your first real taste of the canyon’s dramatic scenery and the energy of the river. As the afternoon draws to a close, you will reach a calm section of the riverbank where you will set up camp and enjoy your first night surrounded by nature.
You’ll be floating for 2 hours more or less, doing class II and III rapids. Camp will be in a narrow gorge with impressive walls . Here the guides will prepare dinner .
( Lunch + Dinner ).
After a healthy breakfast, you’ll start rafting around 9:00 a.m. Today, you’ll spend about six hours on the water, navigating mostly Class III and IV rapids. When you reach larger Class IV sections that require extra caution, you’ll make short portages to safely move around them. Along the way, you’ll stop for lunch and have time to rest before continuing deeper into the canyon.
You’ll arrive at camp around 4:30 p.m., where you can unwind with tea time and later enjoy a well-deserved dinner. Tonight, you’ll sleep on a sandy riverbank under the spectacular night sky of the southern hemisphere—a peaceful and memorable end to a full day on the river.
(Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner included.)
After a good breakfast, you’ll gear up for your final—and most thrilling—day on the river. This section includes several exciting Class V rapids with memorable names such as “Tooth Ache,” “You First,” and “Last Laugh.” For safety reasons, you’ll walk around two of the larger rapids while the guides handle the equipment.
You’ll spend about five hours navigating this dramatic stretch of the canyon before reaching Quinta Primavera, near the Kunyak Bridge, where your rafting adventure comes to an end.
Once there, you’ll help pack up the gear and then begin the drive back to Cusco, arriving at around 5:00 p.m.
