Itinerary

Day 1Iquitos - Cumaceba Amazon Lodge

Upon arrival in Iquitos, you’ll be warmly welcomed at the airport. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a short guided city tour, exploring the historic center and its iconic architecture.

Next, board a speedboat along the Amazon River, admiring the stunning scenery and visiting traditional floating houses (available from November to July).

Arrive at Cumaceba Amazon Lodge, where you’ll enjoy a refreshing traditional welcome drink, learn about the lodge’s facilities, and settle into your private eco-lodge cabin.

After lunch, embark on an Amazon wildlife adventure. Search for pink and gray river dolphins and visit a riverside family dedicated to protecting species such as sloths, turtles, and anacondas. You’ll also have the opportunity to sample traditional Amazonian aphrodisiac drinks.

At dusk, admire a breathtaking Amazon sunset, and as night falls, take a guided nocturnal jungle walk to discover the region’s fascinating nighttime wildlife. End the day with a delicious dinner and immersive retellings of Amazonian myths and legends.

Day 2Cumaceba Lodge - Iquitos

Start your morning with a canoe excursion for birdwatching, spotting exotic Amazon species including the legendary Shansho (Hoatzin) in its natural habitat.

Return to the lodge for a traditional Amazonian breakfast, then visit a Yagua native community. Here, you’ll explore their traditional clothing, language, lifestyle, and customs, gaining a deep cultural insight into the Amazonian way of life.

Participate in a blowgun (pucuna) demonstration, an ancient hunting technique used for birds and small monkeys, and even test your own skills under guidance.

After this immersive cultural experience, return to Cumaceba Lodge for lunch before departing at 3:00 p.m. for Iquitos, where you’ll be transferred to your hotel or airport.
