We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco between 4:00 and 4:30 a.m. for an early start on your Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) day tour from Cusco. You will enjoy a scenic 2-hour drive to Cusipata (3,310 m / 10,859 ft), where a nutritious breakfast will be served to prepare you for the trek.
After breakfast, we continue to the trailhead at 4,600 m (15,091 ft), where your guided high-altitude hike in the Peruvian Andes begins. Along the route, you may see llamas, alpacas, and sheep in their natural environment. After approximately 1 hour of trekking, you will reach the spectacular Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain at 5,036 m (16,466 ft), one of the most iconic natural wonders in Peru and a top must-see destination worldwide.
At the summit, you will have free time to enjoy the panoramic views, take photos, and experience the unique colors of the Andes. For those seeking more adventure, there is an optional 30-minute extension to the Red Valley viewpoint, offering even more dramatic landscapes.
After descending, you will return by transport to Cusipata for a buffet lunch, where you can relax and recharge after the hike.
Finally, you will travel back to Cusco, arriving near the Plaza de Armas in the late afternoon or early evening, completing an unforgettable full-day Rainbow Mountain trek experience.

The Rainbow Mountain trek was an unforgettable adventure that surpassed all expectations. The day began with an early pickup from my hotel in Cusco, setting the tone for an exhilarating journey ahead. The scenic drive to Cusipata village provided glimpses of the breathtaking Andean landscape, preparing us for the awe-inspiring sights to come.
Upon arrival in Cusipata, we enjoyed a hearty continental breakfast, fueling our bodies for the trek ahead. The van then took us to Phula Wasipata, the starting point of our trek, where we were greeted by the majestic Andean peaks towering above us.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the hike to Rainbow Mountain. The 1:30-hour trek to the summit rewarded us with panoramic views of the vibrant colors and unique geological formations that make this mountain a natural wonder. Standing at 5,020 meters above sea level, surrounded by such beauty, was a truly humbling experience.
