You will be picked up from your hotel in Cusco around 4:30 a.m. and begin your journey towards the stunning Waqra Pucara archaeological site, one of the most impressive hidden gems in the Peruvian Andes. You will travel by private transport through breathtaking Andean landscapes, passing valleys, rivers, and traditional villages along the route to Cusipata and Santa Lucía.
You will stop in Cusipata, where you will enjoy a traditional buffet breakfast to prepare for your adventure. Afterward, you will continue by vehicle to Santa Lucía, and then take a short 15-minute drive along a zigzag road to Punta Carretera, the starting point of your trek.
From here, you will begin a 1 hour and 30-minute hike (2.5 km) along a scenic and moderately challenging trail, surrounded by mountains, inter-Andean valleys, and local farmers herding llamas and alpacas. Throughout the hike, you will experience peaceful natural landscapes and authentic Andean culture.
You will arrive at Waqra Pucara around 9:30 a.m., where your professional guide will provide detailed information about the history, architecture, and significance of this sacred Inca site. You will have time to explore, take photos, and enjoy the powerful energy of this unique archaeological wonder.
After your visit, you will hike back along the same route to Punta Carretera, enjoying the landscapes once again on the descent. From there, you will continue by transport to Cusipata, where you will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch prepared with local ingredients.
Finally, you will return to Cusco, arriving at the Plaza de Armas around 6:00 p.m., concluding a full day of culture, history, and unforgettable Andean scenery.
