You’ll start your 7 Lakes of Ausangate Trek from Cusco with an early 4:30 a.m. hotel pickup. As you leave Cusco, you’ll travel through the Peruvian Andes to Pacchanta, where you’ll enjoy a traditional Andean breakfast before beginning your hike.
Around 8:00 a.m., you’ll set off on a 12 km guided trek through the spectacular Vilcanota Mountain Range. Along the way, you’ll discover the Seven Lakes of Ausangate: Pucacocha, China Otorongo, Orqo Otorongo, Oqecocha, Comercocha, Alcacocha, and Azul Cocha.
As you hike, you’ll see the lakes’ beautiful shades of turquoise, emerald, green, and deep blue, contrasting with snow-capped peaks and views of Ausangate Mountain. You may also spot alpacas, vicuñas, and other Andean wildlife along the trail.
At approximately 4,650 m (15,255 ft), you’ll take in spectacular panoramic views of the high Andes before making your way back to Pacchanta for lunch.
After your trek, you’ll have the option to relax in the Pacchanta hot springs, surrounded by peaceful mountain scenery a perfect way to unwind after your hike.
Finally, you’ll return to Cusco after a full day of high altitude hiking, stunning Andean landscapes, and the unforgettable Seven Lakes of Ausangate.
