Day 1 Cusco – Humantay Lake Adventure – Cusco

Your Humantay Lake tour from Cusco begins with an early 4:00–4:30 a.m. hotel pickup. As you leave Cusco, you’ll travel through the spectacular Peruvian Andes, passing mountain valleys, rivers, and snow-capped peaks as the sun rises.

You’ll stop in Mollepata for a traditional Andean breakfast before continuing to Soraypampa, the starting point of your hike to Humantay Lake.

Located at the foot of Salkantay Mountain, Soraypampa is surrounded by impressive high Andean scenery.

From Soraypampa, you’ll follow your guide along a scenic high altitude hiking trail to Humantay  Lake (4,200 m / 13,779 ft). The uphill hike can be challenging due to the altitude, but you’ll enjoy increasingly impressive views of glaciers, mountain peaks, and the Salkantay landscape as you climb.

When you reach Humantay Lake, you’ll be rewarded with its famous turquoise waters, surrounded by dramatic Andean peaks. Take time to relax, admire the scenery, and capture memorable photos of one of the most iconic natural attractions near Cusco.

After enjoying the lake, you’ll hike back to Soraypampa and continue to Mollepata, where you’ll enjoy a delicious buffet lunch surrounded by the Andean countryside.
