What to bring

  • Original passport:You cannot use a copy of your passport. Make sure your original passport is valid for at least six months to enter and leave Peru. Also, ensure your passport has at least two blank pages for entry and exit stamps.
  • Student ID:Required only if you have booked the excursion as a student. The student card must be issued by your university (up to 25 years old) and include university information, personal details, a photo, and a valid date no later than December 31 of the travel year.
  • Insect repellent:Use repellent with at least 15% DEET. Although there is no reported malaria risk, it helps prevent insect bites and keeps you comfortable.
  • Tennis shoes:Tennis shoes or hiking boots with good grip are important when walking on uneven and steep terrain.
  • Comfortable clothing:Dress for cold and windy weather. Bring a waterproof and windproof jacket.
  • Daypack:Choose a comfortable, lightweight, and compact backpack to carry your belongings throughout the day.
  • Sun block:Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat to protect yourself from strong sun exposure at high altitudes.
  • Personal medication:Don’t forget to bring your personal medication and a basic first-aid kit.
  • Hat and sunglasses:The sun is intense at high altitude. Wear UV-protection sunglasses and a comfortable hat.
  • Warm clothing:Temperatures can vary greatly between day and night. Bring fleece, long-sleeve shirts, a down jacket, and a waterproof outer layer.
  • Hand sanitizer:Always carry a small bottle of hand sanitizer to disinfect your hands before eating, drinking, or after using restrooms.
  • Emergency money:Bring extra cash for emergencies. It is recommended to carry approximately 300 soles / USD 90.
  • Tickets:Make sure you have all tickets, including train tickets and entrance fees. Print them or download them to your phone for easy access.
Itinerary

Day 1Cusco Airport - Hotel - Cusco City Tour.

Welcome to Cusco!

Upon your arrival at Cusco Airport, a warm welcome awaits you, we’ll pick you up and tranfer to your hotel. Once there enjoy a refreshing cup of aromatic coca tea, a traditional remedy known for helping travelers acclimate to the city’s high altitude.

Enjoy a relaxing morning with time for a light lunch at your hotel or at one of the nearby restaurants.

In the afternoon, we’ll pick you up from the hotel lobby to immerse your self in the historical splendor of Cusco on a guided city tour. Visit the Main Square (plaza de Armas), the majestic Koricancha (Temple of the Sun), followed by the impressive archaeological sites of Sacsayhuaman Fortress, Q’enko, Puka Pukara, and Tambomachay.

The tour finishes around 6:30 PM, after which you’ll have the evening free to enjoy dinner at one of Cusco’s renowned restaurants and experience the city’s vibrant culinary scene.

Day 2Cusco - Sacred Valley Tour - Cusco.

The Sacred Valley tour begins at 8:00 a.m. with pickup from your hotel in Cusco. The tour begins a scenic drive to Pisac, where you’ll visit its impressive archaeological site and have time to explore its famous artisan market.

Next, you will travel to Urubamba, where you will enjoy a buffet lunch offering a selection of traditional Andean dishes.

In the afternoon, you’ll visit the archaeological complex of Ollantaytambo, an impressive example of Inca architecture, known for its strategic, religious, and agricultural significance.

The final stop is the town of Chinchero, famous for its textile tradition. Here, you will learn ancient weaving techniques and admire the fusion of colonial architecture with Inca foundations.

Afterwards, you will return to Cusco, arriving at around 7:00 p.m., having experienced a day filled with history, culture and unforgettable landscapes.

Day 3Cusco - Ollantaytambo - Inca Trail ( Day 01: Cusco – Km 82 – Wayllabamba).

Today, we’ll pick you up from your hotel at around 5:30 am. You’ll then enjoy a scenic drive through the Sacred Valley to Ollantaytambo. Sit back, relax, and take in the stunning scenery as you prepare for the adventure ahead.

Once in Ollantaytambo, we’ll stop briefly before heading to Km 82, the official starting point of the legendary Inca Trail. Your experienced guides will then brief you on what to expect before you step onto the ancient path alongside the Urubamba River.

As you walk, you’ll explore the fascinating Patallacta ruins, which offer a glimpse into Inca life. Your guide will reveal the secrets of this historic site, giving you a deeper appreciation for the ingenuity of the Inca civilisation.

As you continue the trek, you’ll ascend gradually through the lush Kusichaca River valley. Surround yourself with vibrant vegetation, listen to the diverse birdsong and let the breathtaking beauty of the Andes captivate you at every turn. Day 4Inca Trail (Day 02: Wayllabamba – Warmiwañusca – Pacaymayo)

Today, you’ll wake up early and enjoy a hearty breakfast to fuel your body, because you’re about to take on the most challenging hike of the trek: the ascent to Warmiwañusca Pass, also known as Dead Woman’s Pass, reaching an impressive 13,123 feet. The climb is tough, but the stunning panoramic views from the summit make every step absolutely worthwhile.

After reaching the summit, begin your descent towards Pacaymayo, located at around 11,975 feet. As you make your way downhill, watch the landscape transform from high-altitude puna grasslands to lush cloud forests teeming with vibrant flora and fauna. Every step reveals a new, stunning scene, rewarding your efforts with nature’s beauty.

Throughout the day, your guide will share fascinating insights into the natural wonders and rich history of the Inca Trail. Learn about the significance of this ancient route and picture the challenges that Inca travellers faced centuries ago.

Day 5Inca Trail (Day 03: Pacaymayo – Chaquicocha – Wiñaywayna)

Today is the longest day of the trek. After a hearty breakfast, set out on a journey filled with archaeological wonders. Your hike begins with the Runkurakay Inca site, an administrative and agricultural complex that offers a captivating glimpse into daily life during the Inca Empire.

After exploring Runkurakay, continue ascending to the Runkurakay Pass, located at 3,900 meters (12,795 feet) above sea level. From there, you’ll make your way to the conveniently located Sayacmarca Inca site near the lunch spot, where you can take a well-earned break and refuel for the afternoon.

Above the Clouds’. Perched at around 3,770 metres (12,371 feet), this expansive site features impressive agricultural terraces and architectural remains. As you explore the ruins, imagine the bustling life that once unfolded here, marvelling at the ingenuity of the Inca civilization.

Next, descend through enchanting cloud forests teeming with orchids, bromeliads and various species of birds.. Keep your eyes open for colourful hummingbirds flitting through the vegetation. The fresh mountain air and lush surroundings make every step invigorating and memorable.

Finally, you’ll arrive at Wiñaywayna, the spectacular final campsite of the trek. Nestled in the cloud forest, this site features a complex of agricultural terraces and Inca ruins, with intricate stonework and well-preserved structures that showcase the ingenuity of the Incas.

Once at the campsite, enjoy a delicious dinner and take a moment to thank the porters for their hard work. Rest well tonight, because tomorrow brings the grand finale: Machu Picchu—an unforgettable experience that will make all your efforts on the trail truly worthwhile.

Day 6Inca Trail (Day 04: Wiñaywayna – Machu Picchu)

Today is the Grand Finale: Machu Picchu

You’ll wake up early and head straight to the checkpoint, which opens at 5:00 a.m. From there, you’ll hike to the Sun Gate before dawn, aiming to catch the sunrise over Machu Picchu. On a clear morning, your first glimpse of the ancient city is absolutely breathtaking—a moment you’ll remember forever.

Afterwards, enjoy a gentle one-hour descent along the scenic upper trail of Circuit 1, a perfect spot for capturing those iconic panoramic photos. Then, head to the main entrance of Machu Picchu, where you’ll find toilets, a café, and the official entry checkpoint.

Next, return inside to explore Machu Picchu via Circuit 3, spending about two hours visiting its most important temples, plazas, and viewpoints. Every corner of the city offers a glimpse into the genius of the Inca civilization.

For the adventurous, there’s the option to hike Huayna Picchu Mountain (advanced booking required), offering spectacular views over the city and surrounding mountains.

After your exploration, take the bus down to Aguas Calientes for a relaxing lunch. Then, enjoy a scenic train ride back, where our driver will meet you at the station and transport you to Cusco or the Sacred Valley. Arrival in Cusco is expected around 7:30 p.m., giving you plenty of time to reflect on the incredible journey you’ve just completed.

Day 7Transfer Out.

After breakfast at your hotel, enjoy some free time to explore Cusco or do some last-minute shopping.

At the scheduled time, you’ll be transferred to the Cusco Airport for your flight to Lima, perfectly coordinated with your international departure. Our team ensures you arrive with plenty of time for a smooth, stress-free connection home.
