We’ll pick you up from the airport, bus station, or your hotel in Puerto Maldonado and transfer you to our office, where you’ll receive all the essential information about your Amazon tour. From there, you’ll enjoy a scenic one-hour boat ride to our Amazon lodge, where a refreshing local fruit juice will be waiting to welcome you.
Accompanied by experienced local guides, you’ll explore trails filled with ancient trees and vibrant wildlife such as toucans, orioles, macaws, and monkeys. You will be just steps away from the Tambopata National Reserve, where you can experience the magic of the forest and its incredible biodiversity.
You’ll cross the river to visit Monkey Island and observe a family of capuchin monkeys in their natural habitat.
As night falls, join an exciting torchlight search for white alligators along the river and keep an eye out for capybaras, the world’s largest rodents. After your adventure, return to the lodge for a delicious dinner and a well-earned rest.
After breakfast, you will hike 3 kilometers through the jungle to reach Sandoval Lake, located inside the Tambopata National Reserve.
At the lake, you will board a paddle canoe and glide across its calm water. This is the best way to see the wildlife up close.
Look for piranhas, colorful birds, and howler monkeys. If you’re lucky, you may also spot the rare giant river otters.
After the tour, you will return to the lodge for a traditional lunch. In the afternoon, you can relax or enjoy the sunset over the Madre de Dios River from the lodge’s viewpoint.
It’s the perfect way to unwind and reflect on the amazing nature you experienced.
You will wake up early, around 5:30 a.m., for a short walk to the lodge’s canopy walkway. You will ascend 40 meters above the ground to experience the rainforest from a unique perspective.
From this elevated walkway, you will enjoy panoramic views of the Madre de Dios River and the surrounding rainforest. It’s a great opportunity to see tropical birds like toucans and macaws in their natural habitat.
After the walk, you will have your final breakfast while listening to the soothing sounds of the jungle. Then, you will pack your belongings and prepare to depart.
Our staff will help you with a smooth transfer back to the city, where you can continue your journey to the airport or bus station.

The cruise to Monte Amazon Lodge on Day 1 lasts approximately one hour.

Day 2 took us on a jungle trek to the stunning Sandoval Lake. Gliding across the serene waters in a paddle canoe, we spotted piranhas, howler monkeys, and even the elusive giant otters. After a traditional lunch, we relaxed and enjoyed the breathtaking sunset over the Madre de Dios River. On the final day, the canopy walkway offered panoramic views and a chance to see tropical birds up close. Our early morning walk was a perfect ending to our rainforest adventure.
