Moray, Maras salt mine + Sacred valley + Machu Picchu – At Glance.

Day 1: Cusco – Maras – Moray – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes.

  • Morning: Pick-up from your hotel in Cusco and transfer to the Sacred Valley. Visit the traditional market of Chincheros.
  • Late Morning: Explore the ancient agricultural terraces of Moray and the salt mines of Maras.
  • Afternoon: Stop at Ollantaytambo village to admire its Inca fortress and streets. Continue by train to Aguas Calientes (approx. 1 hr 45 min).
  • Evening: Check in at your hotel and enjoy free time to relax or explore the town. Briefing with your guide to review the next day’s plans.

Day 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco.

  • Morning: Short bus ride up to the Machu Picchu Citadel.
  • Guided Tour: 2–3 hour guided tour of terraces, temples, plazas, and palaces.
  • Optional Hike: Climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain for panoramic views (pre-booked access required).
  • Afternoon: Return to Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included) and free time to explore.
  • Evening: Train back to Ollantaytambo, followed by private transfer to Cusco. Estimated arrival at your hotel around 19:00.

Excludes

  • Meals (Lunch and Dinner):Lunch is not included in Aguas Calientes. After visiting Machu Picchu, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy lunch at one of the many local restaurants.
  • Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain Hike:$70 USD (optional, upon request). After the main tour, you can hike up Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain.
  • Alcoholic beverages:These are not included in the tour price and must be purchased separately.
  • Additional Expenses:Personal costs such as souvenirs, optional activities, and other incidentals are not included. Please budget accordingly.
  • Hot springs:If you want to relax at the Aguas Calientes thermal baths, there is a small entrance fee of 20 soles per person. You can pay this fee when you arrive.
  • Tips for Guides and Staff:Gratuities for guides, drivers, and other personnel are not included in the tour price. While tipping is optional, it is a kind gesture and greatly appreciated when you receive good service.

What to bring

  • Original passport:A copy is not accepted, you must carry your original passport, valid for at least six months. Ensure it has at least two blank pages for entry and exit stamps.
  • Student ID:If you applied for a student discount, digital copies are not accepted. The card must be issued by your university, for travelers up to 25 years old, and include your photo, personal info, university details, and a valid date through December 31 of your travel year.
  • Good-quality daypack:It's really important to find a good backpack that's comfortable, light and small, to fill in and carry all your belonging.
  • Insect repellent:Use one with at least 15% DEET. Although there’s no reported malaria risk, it’s important to prevent bites and stay comfortable.
  • Tennis shoes:Tennis shoes or hiking boots that grip well are important when walking on uneven and steep lands.
  • Comfy clothing:Dress for cold and windy weather, and be sure to bring a waterproof and windproof jacket.
  • Good daypack:Choose a comfortable, lightweight, and compact backpack to carry all your belongings easily throughout the day.
  • Snacks:Bring high-energy, easy-to-digest snacks for the trek. Avoid heavy options like chocolate bars or cookies, which can cause sluggishness. Instead, opt for granola bars or a mix of nuts—these provide sustained energy without upsetting your stomach.
  • Sun Block:Make sure you take sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat to protect yourself from the sun at high altitudes.
  • Personal Medication:Don’t forget to bring your own medicine and a basic first aid kit for the trip.
  • Hats and sunglasses:The sun is intense at high altitude and you should protect your eyes from the glare. Wear one that offers UV protection and is comfortable.
  • Rain gear:The trails can get wet during the Tour, especially during the rainy season. Make sure to bring quality waterproof gear and clothing made with materials like Gore-Tex to keep you dry while staying comfortable as you.
  • Warm clothing:Since temperatures can vary a lot between day and night, it’s essential to bring proper gear like fleeces, long-sleeve shirts, down jackets, and a waterproof outer layer to stay comfortable throughout the tour.
  • Hand Sanitizer:Always carry a small bottle of hand sanitizer with you to disinfect your hands before eating, drinking, or after using the bathroom. It’s an essential item for maintaining hygiene during your trip.
  • Emergency money:Be sure to carry extra cash for any unexpected expenses during your trip. It’s recommended to bring around 300 soles (about 90 dollars).
  • Hold all your tickets on hand:Make sure you have all your tickets—Trains, Entrance, Buses and any others. Either print them out or download them to your phone for easy access.
Itinerary

Day 1Cusco – Moray – Sacred Valley - Aguas Calientes.

Early start, At 7:00 AM, you will be pick from your hotel, driven to chicnheros, about 28 km/17 miles from cusco,

Colonial church of chincheros, When you arrive, you will visit the Inca site of Chincheros. This includes the remains of an Inca palace and the Church of Our Lady of Monserrat, built in 1670 on the palace of Tupac Yupanqui. You will then have some free time to explore the town and the handicraft market.

The Inca greenhouse in Moray, Have a look at the round, stepped terraces used by the Incas for farming. They created different levels of microclimate to grow different types of crops.

Incan Salt mine o salineras of Maras, Discover the colonial village of Maras.The salt mine is a series of salt mines on the side of the mountain. It has been in use since before the Inca period and is still operated by local families today. Your guide will explain how salt is taken from the small pools and how important salt mining is for the local people.

Lunch will be served at a local restaurant in Urubamba, where you can try the following food dishes, such as ceviche (a type of fish), lomo saltado (a type of meat) or rocoto relleno (a type of stuffed pepper). There are also some options for vegetarians and vegans. The restaurant also offers a variety of drinks, including pisco sours, chicha morada (a type of drink made from maize) and mate (a type of tea).

After lunch, you will go to Ollantaytambo, where you will visit the Inca site,This includes a fortress, a temple, and several residential areas. Your guide will explain the history and significance of the site, as well as the strategic importance of its location in the valley. You will then have some free time to explore the ruins on your own, take photos, or climb to the top of the fortress for great views of the town and surrounding mountains.

You will also walk around the town of Ollantaytambo, where you will see traditional Inca and colonial architecture.Your guide will explain how important the town is, how much it is worth and how important its economy is, as well as its connection to the surrounding communities. After the tour, you will take a train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, the town at the base of Machu Picchu. You will spend the night in a hotel in Aguas Calientes.

Day 2Aguas Calientes – Machu picchu Citadel - Cusco.

Wake up early and enjoy breakfast at your hotel. Meet the Tour Guide and take a bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu, Once you arrive to this great citadel. you must present yout entry ticket and original passports.

Enjoy a 2–3 hour guided tour of the citadel, exploring the best of Machu picchu such as: terraces, temples, plazas, the Guardhouse, and scenic viewpoints, temples, and palaces, then you will have free time or hike to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain are available for panoramic views (tickets not included, up on request).

We include Circuit 2 by default, as it provides the most comprehensive exploration of Machu Picchu. If it is unavailable, we will offer the best alternative—Circuit 3 or Circuit 1—to ensure an exceptional experience. We strongly recommend booking your Machu Picchu tickets well in advance, as availability is limited and the most popular circuits and schedules sell out quickly.

After exploring Machu Picchu, take the bus back to Aguas Calientes, where you can enjoy lunch, explore the town and look around the local shops. In the afternoon, you will board the Expedition Train for a 1.5-hour scenic journey to Ollantaytambo. followed by a private van ride back to Cusco. You are expected to arrive at your hotel in Cusco around 7:00 p.m.
